Quick Tip Tuesday – Purchasing a Cabin with the Intent to Rent it Out?

Quick Tip Tuesday – Purchasing a Cabin with the Intent to Rent it Out?

3 Things to Consider

1) Rentals with king and queen size beds rent for significantly more than doubles or singles.  People are looking to relax and unwind and sleeping is a huge part of that on vacation.  Make sure your cabin can accommodate some larger beds.

2) If you are renting the cabin out occasionally you will need a space to lock up your personal items.  One, renters don’t want to be surrounded by your stuff, and two you don’t want your items to be broken, stolen, or used. Make sure there is a large closet, possibly a shed, or storage space that you can lock and secure personal items.

3) Look for a cabin that accommodates winter activities.  Cross-country ski trails, snowmobile trails, ice fishing, downhill skiing nearby are all things people enjoy during the winter months.  This will keep your rental income steady throughout the entire year.

And of course be sure to check with city, county, and lake association by-laws when it comes to renting.  This is where you want a good real estate agent to ensure you can carry out your rental plans.   Truen Group agents are experts in the western Wisconsin and Minnesota lakes area. Many own their own cabins and are extremely familiar with lakes, locations, and communities. They will go to bat for you in this competitive market. Are you thinking of buying a cabin?
